When I was a child, Barbie was my best friend. I never gave any thought to her figure, or that my shape should look like hers...for me, it was all about the clothes and the imaginary life I made up for her, and I had quite an imagination!
As an young adult, I learned the hard way, that wellness and living a healthy, spiritually connected life, was far more important than what Barbie and I would wear, or my imaginary lifestyle. The reality check came when my own Mom had a massive stroke at age 45! It rocked my world. In my early twenties, I was to become caretaker to my own Mom. I wasn't even a Mother myself when my Mom needed an advocate.
It became glaringly obvious how lifestyle choices can change our life. Sadly, my Mom was obese my entire life, she smoked, and lived a sedate life. But, she was also joyful, kind, loving, and did the very best she could to provide for 3 children after a divorce, in a decade where divorce was rare.
My Mom's stroke forever changed my view on the importance of Wellness. Life events can do that, can't they?

Oh my Kelli! So sorry to hear about your mom. What a blessing you surely were to her when she needed you most. I have always admired how you take care of yourself. It is clear that you invest time in yourself and in every little detail - hair, nails, smile, the way you pose for pictures. It's very inspiring. When I see photos f you with your daughters, I know they are so proud to have you as a mom -- someone who is poised and feminine. I am excited to read your blog posts and to learn from you. One of the things women need most today is real life reminders (not the perfectly Photoshopped CRAP) of how beautiful we are and how valuable we are, and how no one will take care of us like US. Thanks for being such a good example!

dm, thank you! Wellness is a word that is overused these days, but something I've always been passionate about it. Wellness is all encompassing. We feel better when we take care of the exterior, but, my hope is, anyone reading this blog will realize,
the beauty that comes from within each of us is of most value.
The rest is just the icing on the cupcake...makes us a little sweeter!
